Jacobi Opens New Location

West Knoxville’s newest Chickfil- A location is now open for business. Operator David Jacobiawarded prizes to 100 “campers” following a 12-hour campout lasting from 6 pm-6 am. The promotion initially had over 180 participants, so a drawing was held to determine 100 campers and 10 alternates.

A Stylish Renovation

The 18 month renovation at Brian DeBusk’s 11, 200 square foot west Knoxville home is nearing completion.

“It needed a facelift in a big way,” he said.

The project, which involved changing “every wall, every floor, every ceiling,” transformed the home from a traditional house with old world decor to a more open plan with contemporary style, industrial touches and a warm masculine feel.

A new dual-property Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott recently opened in downtown Knoxville. The nine-story hotel located at 210 W. Church Ave. boasts 152 Courtyard guestrooms and 80 Residence Inn suites with one common lobby and reception area.

Lisa New, President and CEO of Zoo Knoxville, didn’t aspire to the head job there. “My goal was to be a field researcher in primatology--more of an academic and science role,” she said. “The zoo was a pit stop that became a life goal.” New, a Knoxville native and graduate of Carter High School, earned a B.S. in Zoology and an M.S. in Ethology, the study of animal behavior, from the University of Tennessee.
