People of Courage Luncheon

Story and photography by Megan Venable

Guests recently gathered at the Foundry on the World’s Fair Site in celebration of survivors of HIV/AIDS for a luncheon hosted by local non-profit, Positively Living. Scott Fried, international award-winning speaker, youth educator and HIV/AIDS advocate, told attendees about his personal journey with HIV through his keynote address. The fifth annual Julia Tucker award was presented to the Hope Center, and Rhonda Daies was recognized with the Robert Braddock Survivor Award.

Those gathered at the event were encouraged to support Positively Living which serves vulnerable groups struggling to survive the challenges created by HIV/AIDS, homelessness, mental illness, addiction and disabilities.
