Habitat For Humanity Volunteers Honored



Two Knoxville Habitat for Humanity volunteers were recently honored at the 2022 Habitat for
Humanity Tennessee State Impact Awards in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Abby Ham was recognized with the Community Influencer Award for her volunteerism and service as Honorary Chair of Knoxville Habitat’s Women Build. As Honorary Chair for seven years, Ham has served as a supporter and storyteller of the Knoxville Habitat mission.

“Abby’s passion for and dedication to families, and especially women, in the Knoxville Habitat program continuously encourages other local women to join in the life changing work of building affordable homes in their community,” said April Timko, Knoxville

Habitat’s Chief Marketing Officer. Knoxville Habitat board member and volunteer Garry Tener was named Leadership Volunteer of the Year. Tener was recognized for his faithful leadership and representation of Knoxville Habitat that has led to lasting partnerships, connections, and support of local families in need of affordable housing.

“As an invaluable member of our Knoxville Habitat team, Garry’s leadership and faithful dedication to our ministry is inspiring,” said Knoxville Habitat President/CEO Kelle Shultz. “We are grateful for his work that leads to more hardworking families achieving affordable homeownership. ”

The Habitat for Humanity Tennessee State Impact Awards recognizes and honors individuals and groups who have significantly impacted the lives of local residents and communities and, in the process, have inspired others to make a difference.
