First Horizon Announces Winners of 25 Years of Giving Contest

The First Horizon Foundation, which operates as First Tennessee Foundation and Capital Bank Foundation, is proud to announce the nonprofit winners of its 25 Years of Giving Video Contest, commemorating its 25 years of strengthening communities.

A total of $275,000 will be awarded to 35 organizations across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia who will receive grant awards ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 for their organization’s compelling stories.

The Knoxville area fared exceptionally well in the contest, with eight of the 35 awarded organizations being counted in its ranks to receive $62,500 – nearly 25 percent -- of the total $275,000 to be awarded.

Friends of the Smokies was awarded $25,000. InterFaith Health Clinic and Young-Williams Animal Center were awarded $10,000. Appalachian Bear Rescue and Remote Area Medical were awarded $5,000. Asian Culture Center was awarded $2,500.

“We are humbled to be able to support the fantastic work of our local communities’ nonprofit organizations and this 25th anniversary of our Foundation provided an ideal opportunity to celebrate that work with this incremental contest,” said Dave Miller, First Tennessee’s East Tennessee Region. “We are so proud that the greater Knoxville area organizations received so many of the awards. We had planned for 25 awards total throughout the First Tennessee and Capital Bank footprint, but the stories were so compelling we decided to recognize 10 additional organizations with $2,500 Honorable Mention awards.”

Earlier in the year First Horizon Foundation announced the 25 Years of Giving Video Contest to celebrate its 25th anniversary of supporting the nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve.

To celebrate this milestone, and introduce our Foundation as the Capital Bank Foundation in our Mid-Atlantic communities, nonprofit organizations were asked to submit a 60-second video sharing how we have partnered or how we could partner with their organization to support our communities.

More than 500 submissions were received and with the help of public voting, finalists were determined and a panel of judges selected the winners.
