Dogwood Arts Luncheon

Story by Liz Lyons. Photography by Dogwood Arts.

A sure sign that spring is in the air are those familiar pink and white blooms all over Knoxville. Dogwood Arts hosts a luncheon every spring to celebrate these early signs of spring and to officially open the Dogwood Trails and Open Gardens. The featured trail this year runs through Historic Westmoreland. The day began with a ribbon cutting at the Historic Westmoreland Waterwheel. Lunch, provided by the Crowne Plaza, at Lakeshore Park followed the official trail opening ceremony. Dee Haslam gave the keynote address. Dogwood Arts opened their first trail in Sequoyah Hills in 1955 as part of a city wide beautification project. There are now 13 trails spanning across Knoxville.
