Music On The Mountains

We’re honored to once again be a part of Music of the Mountains by presenting ‘Good Thyme Ceilidh’ on stage at the GSMHC Amphitheater.

Created to share the rich musical traditions of the Appalachians, Music of the Mountains is made possible by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains Association; all to bring good folks together in celebration of great music.
Great Smoky Mountains Association is proud to serve as a long-time sponsor of ‘Music of the Mountains,’” said Executive Director Laurel Rematore. “This event dovetails perfectly with GSMA’s mission to protect and preserve the cultural history of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which includes this concert’s commitment to spotlighting Appalachian musical traditions.
The Good Thymes Ceilidh (kay-lee) Band formed in 2008 from members of the Knoxville Scottish Music Club. We play fiery Scottish tunes (jigs, reels, strathspeys, waltzes, and lovely slow airs). The band is comprised of five musicians; three fiddles, a guitar, and hammered dulcimer…often changing up the sounds with penny whistle, bodhran, mandolin, vocals, and occasional step dancing. This group shares their love of Scottish music and performs repertoire that illustrates the shared influences on the old time traditional music often enjoyed in Appalachia and beyond.
