THE BLACK LILLIES - FAREWELL FOR NOW

April 4, 2020

After eleven years, five albums, approximately 2000 shows, and countless relationships built along the way, The Black Lillies are saying farewell for now.

Known for their captivating blend of rock & roll and country, the Knoxville-based band has become one of Americana music’s biggest success stories: an internationally renowned band of roots-rockers, armed with songs that blur the boundaries between genres. They’ve racked up accolades almost as quickly as miles on the road, becoming a mainstay on radio and album sales charts and gaining the attention of platforms as varied as The Grand Ole Opry, MTV, NPR, Rolling Stone and Garden & Gun. Festivals ranging from Bonnaroo to New Orleans Jazzfest, Pickathon to CMA Fan Fair, and Merlefest to Denmark’s Roots of Heaven have embraced them, and their music has found a home on radio and television stations worldwide. The band is as powerful in the quieter moments as it is explosive during the jubilant ones a sound built on undeniable chemistry, lush three-part harmonies, and instrumental virtuosity with a funky edge. More than a decade of international touring has honed their live show into a muscled, powerful display of their musical chops: classical training, classic country and rock influences, and psychedelic overtones create a sound that echoes the familiar roots rock of some of the greatest bands of the past, but is altogether fresh, modern, and sharp with an indie edge. Their Knoxville show is one of only two they’ll be playing in 2020, and who knows when we’ll be seeing them again? Don’t miss your chance to say farewell to The Black Lillies!
