13TH ANNUAL DR. E.V. DAVIDSON TEEN STEP SHOW

March 17, 2018

Every year teams from local schools, the state of Tennessee and surrounding states compete to see who has the most creative step routine. Awards and prizes are presented to the top three teams.

The City of Knoxville Parks & Recreation staff began the Teen Step Show to encourage fitness and friendly competition as well as to give students a glimpse of what to expect as a college student.  College fraternities and sororities judge the step show and meet with the students.  Additionally, the City partners with the University of Tennessee to provide an exclusive tour of the Knoxville campus to Step Show participants.

Current members of prominent African-American fraternities and sororities also commit time to support the event. The "Divine 9" organizations, Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta, work through their partnership to send the competitors a message of team camaraderie, service, and ingenuity.
