Southern Tequila and Taco Festival

Story and photography by Johnna Easter

Around 2,000 guests attended the recent Southern Tequila and Taco Festival in Farragut. Attendees sampled tequilas, margaritas, mezcals and beer, enjoyed food from area restaurants serving tacos and other specialty dishes and listened to John Stone and the Trailer Park All Stars. The annual event, which raised over $70,000 for Remote Area Medical, was organized by John Volpe of Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant. Remote Area Medical is a major nonprofit provider of free mobile clinics. Its mission is to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free, quality healthcare to those in need.
