Story and photography by Megan Venable

Special Growers’ friends and family were welcomed to RT Lodge in Maryville to celebrate the hard work of the organization, and enjoy a meal prepared by Chef Trevor Stockton. As part of the evening’s activities, guests were invited to take a walk with Special Growers into the future planned for the nonprofit. In addition to the meal featuring pulled pork and barbecue chicken, attendees also had the opportunity to take part in live and silent auctions, and enjoy music and dancing. Funds raised at the event will support Special Growers and provide work opportunities for adults with special needs in gardens where they harvest, prep and deliver fresh herbs and fresh cut flowers to local restaurants in Maryville and Knoxville.
