Dream Gala

The 26th Annual Dream Gala organized by the JDRF East Tennessee Chapter raised more than $450,000. A crowd of nearly 450 guests were recently in attendance at Hotel Knoxville where they enjoyed robust live and silent auctions featuring over 150 unique and sought-after items. The evening ended with the signature JDRF “Fund A Cure,” a staple of the JDRF Gala program. The event was chaired by Kevin and Carolyn Kirkland; Kevin’s company, Nisus Corporation, was the event’s presenting sponsor. The program was emceed by WBIR-TV’s John Becker and Robin Wilhoit. Food City CEO Steve Smith accepted the inaugural Food City Star of Hope Award, which recognizes a company or individual who has shown outstanding dedication to the type 1 diabetes community.

JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes research. Funds raised at the Dream Gala will accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes and its complications.
