Casino Gala

Story and photography by Liz Lyons

The 3rd Annual Casino Gala to to support STEM Education at Shannondale Elementary School was held recently at The Standard in Downtown Knoxville. Vegas-style games and a silent auction topped off the evening.

The mission of the Shannondale STEM program is to spark the interest of students in STEM careers and provide them with skills necessary to excel in science, technology, engineering and math. The Shannondale STEM program uses project-based learning to teach science, technology, engineering and math in an integrated way. The projects are connected to real-world problems and reflect the skills used by professionals in STEM careers. The funds raised will pay 100% of the salary of the STEM teacher and supplies for the classroom.
