Knoxville Police Department’s 2025 Faith & Blue Event Strengthens Community Connections

The Knoxville Police Department’s 2025 Faith & Blue Community Event, coordinated by Officer Shelley Clemons, was a tremendous success, bringing together residents, faith leaders and public safety professionals for an evening of unity, collaboration, and community engagement.

The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Alliance for Community Transformation, along with countless city partners, local organizations and service providers who share a commitment to building a safer and stronger Knoxville.

A highlight of the evening was the attendance of Rev. Markel Hutchins, founder of the National Faith & Blue Initiative, whose presence and support underscored the shared mission of fostering trust and understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

“Public safety relies on strong partnerships, collaboration and mutual respect,” said Officer Clemons. “Events like Faith & Blue are foundational to building bridges and creating a thriving community. We are humbled and honored to serve the people who call Knoxville home.”

The Faith & Blue Initiative is a national movement that promotes safer, more unified communities by encouraging partnerships between law enforcement and residents through faith-based organizations. The Knoxville event reflected this mission by providing opportunities for families, officers and community leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue and shared activities that promote trust and understanding.

The Knoxville Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was among the many local organizations in attendance. “This event reminded us of the power of unity and faith in creating safer communities,” the chapter shared. “Through connection and collaboration, we are working together for a brighter future for all children and families.”

Faith & Blue with the Knoxville Police Department truly embodied its mission—Building Bridges Through Community Engagement—and served as a shining example of how partnership and compassion can strengthen the heart of Knoxville.
