September certainly did not get the memo that fall had arrived. The calendar may have said September, but the temperatures outside felt much more like the middle of summer. After weeks of heat, I found myself more than ready for cooler mornings and all the little things that come with a new season. I was especially ready to tackle my front porch. The plants I had chosen in the spring had officially given up after enduring the summer heat, and my planters were looking a little worse for wear. My fall decorations were still tucked away, waiting for temperatures that made pumpkins and mums feel a little more appropriate.
Last week, the temperature finally dropped enough to inspire me. I headed to my local garden center in search of fresh plants for my pots and, of course, came home with a few pumpkins. It is amazing how a couple of new plants, some seasonal color and a few small changes can make your home feel refreshed. The changing seasons always seem to have that effect on me. Fall arrives, and suddenly I notice the things around the house I have been meaning to update. That makes October the perfect time for our annual All About Home issue.

Throughout these pages, you will find businesses specializing in everything from building and remodeling to interior design, furnishings and more.
