WWII Bombardier's True Story

J. Ross Greene will discuss his book, A Fortress and a Legacy, which combines engaging dialogue and historical accuracy with the pathos of a family torn by war. The heart and soul of the story is an exchange of more than 1,000 letters between Knoxville native and B-17 bombardier Lt. Ross W. "Bud" Perrin and his bride, Thelma, who was both Miss Knoxville and a 1940 Miss America contestant. With his six-plus years of extensive research Greene has breathed new life into words scrawled on pages seven decades past, rendering them as relevant and compelling today as they were then. This captivating oral presentation has stirred the imagination and emotions of thousands of people across the U.S. and Europe. Book signing to follow.

The lecture is sponsored by the Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and is free and open to the public and will begin at noon at the East Tennessee History Center. Guests are invited to bring a "Brown Bag" lunch and enjoy the lecture. Soft drinks will be available.
