SPRING RECITAL

May 5, 2018

Joy of Music School.

The excitement of the Joy of Music School’s annual Spring Recital takes place at the Scottish Rite Temple.

Our annual recital is a truly special event. Roughly 65 of our kids climb up on that stage to show their families and friends what they’ve accomplished—musically and personally—this year. There are singers, pianists, guitarists, drummers, and all manner of brass and string performances. There are jangly nerves — and great big smiles of satisfaction and pride.

Be sure to stick around afterward for a warm and celebratory picnic reception in the dining hall downstairs. In addition to delicious food prepared by super volunteer Renee Sunday, mealtime also features an “Instrument Petting Zoo” that allows people of all ages to try out an instrument and ask questions of experienced musicians who play those instruments. It’s a great family event to follow the recital! The Instrument Petting Zoo is presented under our membership in the Knoxville Area Mentoring Initiative, which involves five mentoring nonprofits in the Knoxville area, and focuses on matching youth and mentoring organizations to create opportunities and improve lives.

We are most grateful to the Scottish Rite Temple for opening the doors of their beautiful space to us. We are also grateful to Knoxville’s HomeTrust Bank for sponsoring this important and fun event.
