Book lovers will gather for a seasonal three-course picnic worthy of The Secret Garden, beloved by generations and written by Knoxville’s Frances Hodgson Burnett. You’ll dine in our own secret garden, created on the stage of the Flying Anvil Theatre. Between courses, actors will read from the novel, and Laura Still of Knoxville Walking Tours will tell stories of Burnett’s childhood in Knoxville.
Chef Eva Andres, classically trained and Slow Food approved, hails from France and makes exquisite use of our local ingredients. Her menu will include summer salad, roasted chicken with zucchinis and tomatoes, and scones with whipped cream and fruit. Vegetarians will be accommodated.
Proceeds will benefit the Knoxville Writers’ Guild, supporting local writers and the literary arts for more than twenty years, and the Flying Anvil, Knoxville’s “Off-Broadway” theatre.
