LEMONADE FOR LUNGEVITY

October 16, 2018

Please join us for a family fun fundraiser where 100% of proceeds go to lung cancer research! Lemonade, face painter, bounce house, DJ with floss and dance competition and a silent auction with some amazing items!

I was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in 2016. It was a shock, as I am a nonsmoker, and only 39 years old at the time. I have a great medical team in Knoxville, and travel to MD Anderson in Houston every 90 days. I am on a daily chemo pill and that is keeping my cancer away. I will eventually gain resistance to my medicine, in hopes that I will get a good response from the next pill offered. Throughout this crazy journey, we have realized that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer, and it is the #1 cancer killer, but also one of the least funded researched cancers. My ALK Positive online support group realized that these statistics are unacceptable and all rallied together to start fundraising. We teamed up with LUNGevity, a non-profit lung cancer organization and have raised $539,000 of $600,000 needed for 3 research grants for a year to research my type of cancer! So, Isabella and Greta last year asked to do a lemonade stand to help, and we ended up raising just over $5,000, when they're goal was $100! So, every bit helps, and I am in the fight of my life! It's important to us to stay positive, look to our faith and thank God everyday for our blessings! I am also attaching last year's event that WBIR helped promote...
