SALVAGE SHOP

January 10, 2019

Knox Heritage Salvage Shop is excited to introduce a new course series on salvage repurposing and upcycling, titled Salvage Shop University! The series will kick off in January and will reoccur once per month throughout 2019. Class topics will include How to Paint and Distress Furniture, How to Restore and Refinish Antique Furniture, Salvage Welding, and Upcycled Decor, with other topics to be developed early in 2019. The University plans to include some ‘Make and Take’ courses, where students will be able to craft an item and take it home with them.

During this course, instructor Ashley Costerisan will be teaching attendees how to paint and distress furniture that is beyond restoration. Ashley is the small business owner of Best Nest Home, residing in the North Knoxville area. She works from her creative shed, where she upcycles furniture into beautiful masterpieces, using salvaged furniture and paint. Each piece is unique and custom. Ashley runs a mobile boutique from her renovated antique camper and enjoys selling her items at local craft fairs. She also takes custom orders from customers. Ashley paints every type of furniture and is currently working on a unique piece, a play kitchen from an old cupboard, where she will paint and update the cupboard, adding a custom backsplash. It will be a great time, and a unique learning opportunity, so come join us!
